behind the film
This film was brought about through research done by Emma Aaron, who has a heart for marginalized pregnant women. Her research involved visiting organisations in the USA and Australia. The film looks at how these organisations help marginalized and vulnerable pregnant women, including women in prison. Co produced by Emma Aaron and Shealan Faere Butler, they were able to turn the research into a script. With original music written by a local musician Hannah Davies and with the talented artwork of Merik Lucan, the film was brought together on a tight budget provided by our lovely sponsors listed above.

ABOUT THE FILM
This is a surf film that is like no other, as it explores real life themes among women and how they have overcome hardships. These stories are weaved in with a fictional analogous story of a woman , the lone survivor of a shipwreck on an island in 1888. She is found by a female islander and surfer. Surfing is an ancient sport pioneered by females in the Polynesian islands. This film touches on that and we see how the lead character is taught to regain her strength, learn resilience and find hope to overcome the tragedy of losing the life she knew in the shipwreck.
